The Indonesian government's push for an electric vehicle ecosystem creates an ideal opportunity for VinFast, Vietnam's premier EV manufacturer, to contribute to Indonesia's goal of reaching sustainable transportation.

"We will give a three to four months period for trial because technology is not an easy thing. Maybe efforts to perfect it would be needed," Indonesia's Trade Minister Zulkifli Hasan said.

Indonesia has drafted ethics guidance for developers using artificial intelligence (AI) to prevent potential misuse of the new technology.

"What the people are expecting is that the advancement of technology can create new economic potential, not kill existing economies," Jokowi said.

In the interview, Helen Wong also shared her views on the overall investment sentiment in Indonesia and gave updates on the deployment of its funds, among others.

President Joko Widodo cited an urgent need for the new law since 60 percent of the advertisement market in the Southeast Asian country is dominated by mainly foreign digital platforms.

"With the EV transition, we’re not just going to benefit from significant efficiency gains in converting stored electrical energy into mobility. We’re also going to make that evolutionary leap from being analog devices to completely digital and always-connected personalized devices, just like the ubiquitous smartphone."

Indonesia is one of the world top-10 markets by the number of users for social media firms including Youtube, TikTok, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Whatsapp. Indonesia is also the world's fourth most populous country.

State-owned companies will be directed to help with this new funding.

With this fresh funding, ESB will further expand its proposition including tech-enabled upselling features, enhanced business intelligence (BI) platform, delivery solutions, payment solutions, financing, and human resources information system (HRIS) to become the dominant end to end F&B business operating platform.
