Climate Impact Innovations Challenge (CIIC) 2026, Indonesia’s largest climate tech competition, has concluded and awarded Rp15 billion ($840,000) to three participants to pilot their innovations in Indonesia.

In a statement on Wednesday, the CIIC, represented by East Ventures, Temasek Foundation, and Tencent, said the challenge this year focused on three tracks. They are energy transition, food & nature solutions, and circular economy.

The competition reflected key areas of global climate action, attracting over 850 applications from 60 countries.

A winner is CRecTech, as the winner of the Energy Transition track. The innovation can convert palm oil biogas into bio-methanol at 50 percent lower cost, cutting emissions by up to 93 percent.

In Food & Nature Solutions track, the winner is Blueyou. The application can restore mangroves on degraded land alongside feed- and chemical-free blue food production, while potentially tripling smallholder farmer incomes.

Regarding Circular Economy track, the award went to MacroCycle Technologies. The application can improve textile-to-textile polyester recycling technology with 80 percent lower energy usage, 80 percent lower CO₂ emissions, and 99 percent less water usage, all at price parity.

“Climate innovation matters most when it can make a difference on the ground,” said Heng Li Lang, Head, Climate and Liveability at Temasek Foundation.

“Investing in nature is an investment in a more resilient and sustainable future for Indonesia. By helping innovators pilot their solutions in Indonesia, CIIC provides an important bridge between promising ideas and practical impact,” said Xu Hao, Vice President for Sustainable Social Value, Tencent.
