Hong Kong’s IPO market is seeing renewed momentum, with innovative companies from the Chinese Mainland and across Asia showing growing interest in the city as a fundraising and international expansion hub, according to the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing (HKEX).
Johnson Chui, Head of Global Issuer Services at HKEX, said the exchange is seeing interest from companies across emerging technology sectors, including artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology and semiconductors.
“We are seeing strong momentum in Hong Kong’s IPO market, with growing interest from innovative companies in the Chinese Mainland and across Asia,” Chui told TNGlobal in a recent interview.
The increased interest comes as Hong Kong continues to develop its listing framework to attract technology companies at different stages of growth.
Chui said HKEX has introduced a series of initiatives in recent years aimed at supporting next-generation companies, including the Chapter 18C listing regime, which provides a dedicated listing framework for specialist technology companies.
The exchange has also introduced the Technology Enterprises Channel (TECH), designed to enable earlier engagement with prospective issuers, alongside other measures intended to improve the efficiency of the listing process.
“HKEX is committed to elevating the attractiveness of our markets to worldwide issuers,” Chui said.

Expanding access to technology investment
Beyond attracting companies to list in Hong Kong, HKEX is also seeking to broaden investor access to the region’s technology and innovation companies.
Chui pointed to the recent launch of the HKEX Tech 100 Index as an example of efforts to highlight Hong Kong’s technology-listed companies and provide investors with a more convenient way to gain exposure to the sector.
The index, he said, showcases the breadth of Hong Kong’s listed technology issuers and provides investors with a gateway to companies contributing to the development of the future economy.
The initiatives reflect Hong Kong’s broader effort to strengthen the connection between technology companies, capital markets and international investors.
“Together, these initiatives are broadening our issuer base, strengthening Hong Kong’s innovation ecosystem and reinforcing the city’s position as a leading international capital-raising hub,” Chui said.
Connecting Asian innovators with global capital
For companies from the Chinese Mainland and other parts of Asia, Hong Kong’s role extends beyond providing access to public-market capital.
Chui said HKEX’s focus is increasingly on engaging the next generation of innovators, supporting their growth ambitions and helping companies connect with global investors.
The exchange also aims to help companies pursue opportunities across international markets, positioning Hong Kong as a bridge between Asian technology companies and global capital.
“Our focus is on engaging the next generation of innovators, supporting their growth ambitions, and helping companies from China and across the region connect with global investors and pursue opportunities across international markets,” Chui said.
As technology sectors such as AI, robotics and semiconductors continue to develop, HKEX’s efforts suggest that attracting technology issuers and deepening investor access to the sector will remain an important part of Hong Kong’s capital-market strategy.
HKEX is a publicly-traded company and one of the world’s leading global exchange groups, offering a range of equity, derivative, commodity, fixed income and other financial markets, products and services, including the London Metal Exchange.
As a superconnector and gateway between East and West, HKEX facilitates the two-way flow of capital, ideas and dialogue between China and the rest of the world, through its pioneering Connect schemes, increasingly diversified product ecosystem and its deep, liquid and international markets.
