Maybank Investment Bank said Wednesday that new monetization avenues will help Singapore-based tech conglomerate Sea to achieve margin targets sooner.

The platform will also end its early-stage pilot in Spain. This comes after Shopee exited the French market in March. The e-commerce unit also exited the India market the same month.

Shopee reportedly said in its statement it would work "to support local seller and buyer communities and our local team to make the process as smooth as possible".

France was one of the most significant new markets for Sea, which has been embarking on an aggressive international push last year to drive growth beyond Southeast Asia.

ShopeePay e-wallet users will now be able to pay at establishments such as Phoenix Petroleum, Family Mart, Three Sixty Pharmacy, Prince Retail, and more chains nationwide.
