Plaud has officially opened its Asia-Pacific headquarters in Singapore and said it will commit at least S$20 million to its local operations, doubling the investment it announced earlier this year.
The artificial intelligence note-taking company said Wednesday that its new regional base at Marina Bay Financial Centre spans about 15,000 square feet and will support 12 markets outside Japan and mainland China, including Australia, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea and Thailand.
The latest commitment builds on Plaud’s Singapore expansion announced in June, when the company said it planned to invest more than S$10 million in its regional headquarters, hiring and AI development.
Plaud said its Singapore workforce has grown from 10 people to around 100 within nine months. The team covers regional operations as well as AI engineering, product development, cloud infrastructure, finance, human resources and legal compliance.
The company said Singapore is also becoming part of its product and research work, including development for multilingual and code-switching use cases across Asia-Pacific. These are relevant for markets where business conversations regularly move between several languages within the same meeting or workflow.
Plaud Chief Executive Officer and co-founder Nathan Xu said the regional headquarters is intended to support both business expansion and product development across Asia-Pacific.
The company has separately said its annual recurring revenue increased from US$1 million to US$100 million within two years. Plaud said it now serves more than two million professionals globally, although the new Singapore announcement cited more than 2.5 million users.
Singapore’s Economic Development Board also welcomed the expansion. Plaud said the city-state gives it access to regional business, engineering and AI talent while providing a base for coordinating markets with different languages, regulations and customer requirements.
The company is incorporated in Delaware and headquartered in San Francisco, with offices in Singapore, Tokyo, Shenzhen, Seattle and Beijing.
