VinFast, the electric vehicle maker under Vietnam’s conglomerate Vingroup, has launched an early booking program in Indonesia for three battery-swapping electric motorcycle models — the VinFast Evo, VinFast Feliz II, and VinFast Viper.
In a statement on Tuesday, VinFast said the move is in line with the company’s expansion in green mobility ecosystem in Southeast Asia’s largest two-wheeler market. The launch marks another step in VinFast’s strategy to grow its electric two-wheeler business internationally, with Indonesia identified as one of its key regional markets.
The three models are designed to serve different consumer needs, including urban commuting, business use, and lifestyle-focused mobility. Customers can choose between battery subscription, battery swapping, or purchasing the motorcycles with batteries included.
“Indonesia is one of the world’s largest and most dynamic two-wheeler markets, and is also entering a period of rapid transition toward green mobility,” said Vo Thi Cam Tu, Managing Director of VinFast E-motorcycles Overseas Market.
All three motorcycles are equipped with a 5,200W BLDC in-wheel motor. The Viper and Feliz II have top speeds of up to 90 km/h, while the Evo reaches up to 80 km/h. The Evo model can travel up to 150 km on a full charge under standard conditions, while the Viper and Feliz II models offer ranges of up to 145 km, according to VinFast
VinFast highlighted users can also charge batteries at home or through public charging stations. The company is expanding charging and battery-swapping infrastructure in Indonesia through a partnership with V-Green.
Earlier this year, VinFast announced plans to expand its electric two-wheeler business into the Philippines, Indonesia, India, Thailand, and Malaysia. The company has also been building partnerships in several markets alongside ecosystem partners including electric taxi operator GSM and charging infrastructure developer V-Green.
