Roblox, the immersive gaming and creation platform, has appointed Joel Neoh as managing director for Southeast Asia and Oceania.

In a statement on Friday, Roblox said Neoh joined the company in October and will be its senior-most business lead in the two regions, overseeing its strategy there and working with local teams and partners.

Neoh’s priorities will include growing the company’s presence in the region, building partnerships, and supporting the creator community. He will help local studios use Roblox’s tools to scale and find commercial success. He will also work to familiarize players and parents with the brand.

Roblox said the region’s young, digitally native population, focus on safety, and fast-changing digital ecosystem make it a significant long-term opportunity.

Neoh said he had seen the creativity, optimism, and entrepreneurial energy of the region first-hand. Technology can make it easier for people to move from consuming digital experiences to creating them. He said keeping young people safe and working with parents, regulators, and communities would remain central to the role.

Zhen Fang, Roblox’s vice president of international, said Southeast Asia and Oceania are important regions within Asia-Pacific, with a vibrant and fast-growing community of creators and players. The company is committed to the region for the long term and will keep investing in local teams, creators, and partners.

Neoh is an entrepreneur and investor with two decades of experience building technology companies across Asia-Pacific. He founded GroupsMore in Malaysia, which merged with Groupon; and Fave, a Southeast Asian fintech and consumer payments platform that Pine Labs acquired in 2021.
