Vietnam’s tech giant FPT and Quandela, a French photonic quantum computing company, will jointly develop quantum technology cooperation and support Vietnam’s quantum ecosystem.

In a statement on Monday, Quandela said the two have signed a two-year memorandum of understanding for the move. Under the framework, FPT will combine its engineering, research, and knowledge of the Vietnamese market with Quandela’s expertise in photonic quantum computing, including hardware, software, and cloud infrastructure.

The cooperation will focus on joint research and innovation, cloud-based quantum computing, and education-talent development.

On research, the companies intend to explore joint technology development, including work on quantum algorithms, quantum communications, cybersecurity-related applications, and other shared interests.

Regarding cloud access, Quandela can provide FPT researchers with access to its cloud-based quantum computing infrastructure. FPT plans to establish a dedicated research group to run experiments and identify potential applications.

FOr education, the companies will explore contributions to FPT’s university and high-school programs, including access to quantum learning environments and open-source tools, expert training, seminars, and exchanges between researchers and engineers.

The parties can later explore joint advisory work for businesses and public-sector bodies, and international deployments. They strive to identify new quantum use cases and strengthen links between the Vietnamese and European quantum ecosystems.

Dr. Nguyen Xuan Phong, FPT’s chief AI transformation officer and director of the Quantum AI & Cyber Security Institute, said the collaboration would strengthen FPT’s internal capabilities, give its researchers access to advanced technology, and identify applications that can create value for Vietnam’s economy.

Marine Xech-Gaspa, Quandela’s director of institutional affairs and public policy, said building a quantum ecosystem requires more than technology access. The collaboration between Quandela’s technology and FPT’s research and local capacity would deliver projects in Vietnam.
