Compliance technology company Sumsub has launched an Asia-Pacific Agentic AI Council, a cross-sector forum intended to develop practical guidance for organizations deploying autonomous AI systems.

The council’s work is organized around three pillars: Adopt, covering where AI agents create value and the conditions for deployment; Build, covering technical foundations such as agent identity, secure architecture and interoperability; and Govern, covering accountability mechanisms and practical governance frameworks.

Sumsub is inviting leaders from policy, technology, academia, industry and civil society to join as founding advisors ahead of an inaugural meeting planned for the first quarter of 2027. The first working group will focus on agentic commerce, including identity, delegated authority and oversight when AI agents act on behalf of consumers or businesses.

The initiative follows Sumsub’s APAC AI-governance research, which TNGlobal covered in August. Sumsub’s survey found a wide gap between organizations’ confidence in explaining AI decisions and their ability to produce verifiable audit trails. The new council is positioned as a forum for turning those governance concerns into operational practices rather than as a new regulatory body.
