American automobile giant Tesla has established its Vietnamese subsidiary, Tesla Motors Vietnam LLC, according to a filing with the ministry-run National Business Registration Portal.
In a filing dated September 12, Tesla Motors Vietnam LLC shows that its office is in Ho Chi Minh City. It has seven business sectors, including wholesale and retail sales of vehicles, sales of vehicle parts, sales of machinery, and other wholesale and retail activities.
The firm’s charter capital is VND77.7 billion ($3 million).
The Vietnamese firm has three legal representatives, one Vietnamese and two Americans. Notably, the president is David Jon Feinstein, a senior executive at Tesla. The filing also shows his address at 1 Tesla Road, Austin, Texas, also the headquarters of Tesla in the United States.
The other twos are Isabel Ching Fan as General Director and Nguyen Manh Hung as Assistant to General Director.
According to data, Vietnam’s automobile sales reached 48,484 in August 2026, down 18 percent from July. VinFast, the biggest electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer in Vietnam, accounted for the biggest portion of 20,161 units, or 42 percent of the total. The total figure does not include imported cars.
