Carousell Autos has launched Carousell Car Drops, an online auction format that opens selected owner-listed cars to bids from consumers as well as professional dealers in Singapore.

The company describes the service as Singapore’s first consumer car auction. A fresh selection of eligible vehicles is released daily, with each listing open for bidding for 48 hours.

Buyers can review vehicle information and place bids online without an upfront viewing. If the seller accepts a bid, a Carousell Autos specialist arranges a joint viewing before the transaction is finalized. The company said its staff can also help coordinate inspection, financing, insurance, ownership transfer, repairs and refurbishment where needed.

Opening dealer-auction inventory to consumers

Car Drops extends Carousell Autos’ existing dealer-auction process by allowing verified consumers to bid on some of the same owner-listed inventory. The company said the model gives sellers a wider pool of potential buyers while giving consumers access to vehicles before they reach dealer showrooms.

Melissa Wong, Marketing Manager at Carousell Autos, said the service is intended to operate alongside the company’s dealer-auction channel and improve the chances of owner-listed vehicles finding buyers.

The launch adds another transaction layer to Carousell’s broader recommerce business. TNGlobal reported in July that Carousell Group reached positive EBITDA in fiscal 2025, with recommerce accounting for a growing share of revenue.

A different route into Singapore’s used-car market

Singapore’s vehicle market is shaped by high ownership costs and a relatively active resale market. By combining online bidding with a viewing after a seller accepts an offer, Carousell is trying to reduce some of the friction between private listings, dealer auctions and direct consumer purchases.

The company has not disclosed transaction volumes or how much of its owner-listed inventory will be offered through Car Drops. The service is now live through the Carousell Autos website.

Carousell Autos is part of Carousell Group and operates alongside the company’s broader classifieds and recommerce marketplace across Southeast Asia.
