Vietnam’s electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast and Germany’s TÜV Rheinland will collaborate to develop the VinFast Testing Center to international standards and provide testing and technical advisory services to automotive manufacturers in Vietnam and the ASEAN region.

In a statement last Friday, VinFast said the two sides have signed a memorandum of understanding for the collaboration. VinFast did not provide any financial detail. Under the MOU, TÜV Rheinland will prioritize the VinFast Testing Center as its preferred provider of testing and technical advisory services for relevant projects in Vietnam and ASEAN.

The two parties will jointly promote the center’s capabilities to international automotive manufacturers, develop new business opportunities, and organize training programs and industry seminars. Areas of collaboration include technical advisory services, testing, certification, and specialized training.

The MOU builds on prior cooperation between the two companies on testing and technical assessment of electric vehicle systems, components, and complete vehicles. The new agreement can elevate the relationship from individual projects to a long-term partnership, VinFast added.

Nguyen Manh Quan, Deputy CEO of VinFast’s Quality Control Division, said the partnership is part of VinFast’s strategy to strengthen its research, testing, and product development capabilities in line with international standards. It can create opportunities for VinFast to become part of the regional and global automotive technical services network.

TÜV Rheinland is a Cologne-headquartered testing, inspection, and certification company with more than 150 years of operation. It provides technical services to automotive manufacturers and suppliers covering safety, performance, electromagnetic compatibility, and cybersecurity.
