Singapore-based Ant International has integrated its Alipay+ payment gateway with Argentina’s national QR payment scheme Transferencias 3.0, enabling international visitors to make digital payments at merchants across the country using their home-market payment apps.
In a statement last Friday, Ant International said the integration was carried out in partnership with PVS, a Latin America-focused fintech company. Through the integration, users of Alipay+ partner payment apps can scan the national QR code at merchants across Argentina, including restaurants, shopping centers, and tourist attractions, to complete cross-border payments. Alipay+ partner apps will be enabled for payments in Argentina in phases.
Transferencias 3.0 is an interoperable instant payment infrastructure developed by the Central Bank of the Argentine Republic. It allows consumers to pay with any participating digital wallet or banking app through a single QR code.
Alipay+ currently connects 150 million merchants to more than 50 global digital wallets and banking apps, reaching two billion user accounts. Its merchant network includes those connected through more than 10 national QR schemes across Asia and the Middle East. Ant International processes more than 20 million transactions daily globally.
The Argentina launch follows a partnership between Alipay+ and PVS established in May 2026 to roll out cross-border mobile payment services across Argentina and Chile.
Separately, Alipay+ has extended its reach through near-field communication payments via a partnership with Mastercard. Starting with AlipayHK, GCash, and Kakao Pay, users can make NFC payments at Mastercard-enabled merchants worldwide, including in Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico.
Ant International is expanding partnerships with payment service providers, fintech companies, and digital platforms across Latin America. Recent initiatives include co-launching a digital wallet and advancing digital payments in Mexico, and expanding access to financing for small and medium-sized enterprises and individuals in Brazil.
Lucio Colunga, CEO of PVS, said the partnership gives merchants across Latin America access to a large digital payment ecosystem, enabling international travellers to pay with familiar apps while creating new business opportunities for local merchants.
Weixiao Jiang, General Manager for North Asia and the Americas at Alipay+, said Argentina’s interoperable digital payment ecosystem provides a strong foundation for cross-border digital commerce, and that the integration aims to support inbound visitor spending and create opportunities for local businesses.
