Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) has led 14 pioneering Park companies to Southeast Asia’s innovation and technology flagship event, the Techsauce Global Summit 2024 from Aug 7-9 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Aligning with the mission of HKSTP’s Innovation Mixer to bring startups from conception through to commercialization, expanding global marketing coverage, according to a statement.
The summit serves as a crucial launchpad for startups aiming to scale new heights, focusing on the pivotal role that AI and related technologies are poised to play in defining the future, reinforces Hong Kong’s status as a global innovation and technology (I&T) hub.
The Hong Kong Pavilion features market-ready innovations in Artificial Intelligence, Advanced Electronics, Digital Transformation, and Sustainable Technology. The featured technologies, including large language model (LLM), blockchain and AI integrations for enhancing efficiency of professional services including legal and human resources management, AI-driven tools for digital marketing, ecommerce and personal care, illustrate Hong Kong’s research prowess and potential to effect global change. Their presentation at the Summit not only captures worldwide attention but also potential business opportunities.
Derek Chim, Head of Incubation and Acceleration Program of HKSTP, led the delegation to the Summit and said, “We are thrilled to participate in the Techsauce Global Summit for the first time, presenting Hong Kong’s dynamic innovations to make a significant impact in the Southeast Asian market.”
“As the largest I&T ecosystem in Hong Kong, HKSTP is committed to offering a unique and comprehensive incubation program with “go global” DNA to nurture startups from conception to commercialization. It is an end-to-end pathway with robust support, wide network of alumni, mentors and investors, to commercialize their innovative ideas. This exhibition not only highlights Hong Kong’s role as a super-connector between East and West but also strengthens our position as a leading international I&T hub,” he said.
Speaking to a group of reporters on Thursday, Chim said besides Thailand, HKSTP also looks into Singapore and Malaysia as the entity also sees these markets provide great opportunities for startups to scale. Both countries’ governments and universities have multiple initiatives to establish bilateral partnerships, he added.
“In July this year, we also have a delegation to Singapore and Malaysia. We are also working on similar initiatives. We actually see Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia providing great opportunities for the Hong Kong startups to scale into the region,” Chim said.
Moving forward, some of the startups have already formulated expansion strategies to expand in Thailand.
Meanwhile, in partnership with InvestHK and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), 14 Park companies from HKSTP are exhibiting at Techsauce Global Summit 2024:

Leading up to the Techsauce Global Summit, HKSTP said it organized a series of strategic pre-event activities to enhance interactions and deepen connections within the local and regional innovation ecosystems, including the National Innovation Agency (NIA), Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), and True Digital Park and investors, aiming to foster collaborative opportunities and demonstrate Hong Kong’s commitment to technology and innovation.
HKSTP actively engages with the I&T ecosystem across Southeast Asia, utilizing Hong Kong’s strategic location to attract tech companies from the region. The HKSTP’s “HK Sandbox Programme” Cohort 1 was launched in 2023 for Thai startups to exploring opportunities for growth in Hong Kong. Eight Thai startups joined HKSTP’s Ideation program and landed in Hong Kong, to further expand market coverage.
Riding on the success of Cohort 1, the new cohort is now open for application for Thai startups. Hong Kong serves as a pivotal gateway not only to Mainland China but also to the Great Bay Area, providing access to vast regional and international markets.
