Riding on the newly-launched Carousell Certified program for cars, multi-category classifieds and recommerce marketplace Carousell is partnering car-as-a-subscription company Carzuno to launch the Carousell Car Subscription in Singapore, providing further convenience for users.

Starting from today, users can enjoy fully digital end-to-end service from choosing their preferred car to returning it without leaving their home, Carousell said in a statement on Tuesday.

With concerns about the rising certificate of entitlement (COE) premium and cost of living, Carousell said younger Singaporeans, especially families with young children, are looking for alternative affordable options to still enjoy the experience and convenience of owning a car without the residual value risk of potentially buying at record-high COE premiums.

Additionally, being new to car ownership, it said younger Singaporeans prefer a flexible, fuss-free option without worrying about the various costs such as insurance and road tax, maintenance and servicing, down payment and bank loans.

It said that car subscriptions also allow for the flexibility to change different car models, be it to suit changing needs or to try out a model before committing to a purchase, without the hassle of traditional car rental and car sharing.

It also said Carousell Car Subscription allows users to choose their preferred duration from between one to 24 months.

It said the all-in-one pricing is among the most competitive monthly subscription rates in the market, and includes preferred car, comprehensive insurance, servicing, maintenance, 24/7 roadside assistance, unlimited mileage, and free doorstep delivery and return.

“Besides being known for being able to buy and sell secondhand cars, Carousell has the largest platform for rental cars in Singapore,” said Carousell Singapore’s Head of Autos Sanjay Shivkumar.

According to him, in recent years, the firm has had more requests to offer car subscription services as well, and it has seen growing demand globally, especially among eco-conscious drivers who want to use electric vehicles without the hefty price tag.

“Hence, we are excited to partner with Carzuno launch a service that puts our users’ convenience first, and provides more choice,” he said.

Meanwhile, Carzuno Chief Executive Officer Kim Jonsson said that combining Carousell’s reach of 1 in 3 Singaporeans as monthly active users with Carzuno large fleet and variety of 50 car models, they are excited to give Singaporeans more flexibility and freedom in driving the car of their choice.

This launch follows closely on the wheels of the Carousell Certified program that launched in April 2023, which ensures buyers can choose secondhand items with the peace of mind that everything has been thoroughly checked for quality and authenticity.

Carousell Certified listings are available in the cars, luxury, mobile, and sneakers category with the ‘Certified’ tag, and are sold by either Carousell official stores or from authorised Carousell certified partners.

Carousell Certified cars are inspected with a road test by certified mechanics and backed with a 12-month warranty on major vehicle components.
