One month after losing its long-serving chief technology officer, Gojek has appointed a new hire to the crucial role.

Gojek’s new group CTO is Severan Rault, a 20-year tech veteran including management roles at Amazon and Microsoft.

At the online shopping titan, Rault led a brand-new team dubbed Amazon Prime Air, working on an experimental, yet-to-launch drone delivery service:

Speedy promotion

Rault’s Linkedin page shows he joined Gojek in April as head of engineering before being promoted into the CTO role.

He’ll manage Gojek’s engineering teams across Southeast Asia and India, said the startup in a statement this morning. Although the ride-hailing giant doesn’t operate in India, it has long tapped into the country’s software engineering talent.

WHITE SPACE

Rault replaces Ajey Gore, who sat in Gojek’s CTO chair for five years until news of his departure broke mid-June.
