In 2017, Bloomberg’s headline “China just became the games industry capital of the world,” reflected the country’s rising dominance in the gaming industry. With 600 million gamers, it’s no surprise that China is the world’s largest mobile games market. Recently, however, the industry has come under tighter control as regulators try to fight gaming addiction and myopia in children. If we look to nearby Southeast Asia, we see continuing signs of growth in this industry, as the region has become one of the most attractive markets for developers, publishers, and users. A number of Chinese gaming firms have even turned away from the competitive local market and toward Southeast Asia instead.

At SWITCH 2018, which, along with ORIGIN, aims to uncover insights on the latest trends and developments in China’s vibrant tech scene and Southeast Asia’s rapid growth landscape, industry game changers will discuss innovations in game development and the future trajectory of gaming in China, Southeast Asia, and the rest of the world.
