Outstanding local inventions and applications honoured with Hong Kong ICT Awards

HONG KONG, Nov. 17, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — The presentation ceremony for the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2022 (the Awards) was held last night (November 16). The Airport Authority Hong Kong, which is also the Grand Award winner of the Smart Mobility Grand Award, excelling seven other Grand Award category winners with its winning entry the Flight Token Travel, received the Award of the Year from the Acting Financial Secretary, Mr Michael Wong.


The Acting Financial Secretary, Mr Michael Wong (front row, second left), presented the Award of the Year at the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2022 Awards Presentation Ceremony to the representative of the the Airport Authority Hong Kong last night (November 16). The representative of the Chairman of the Hong Kong ICT Awards 2022 Grand Judging Panel, Professor Wong Wing-tak (front row, first right), was also present.

Mr Wong congratulated all winners for their remarkable accomplishments and contributions, and stated that the Hong Kong ICT Awards has served as a perfect platform on which local ICT (information and communications technology) innovators can make themselves known to the industry and gain greater exposure to the Mainland and overseas markets. He also pointed out that innovation and technology (I&T) provides strong impetus for economic growth, and the Innovation, Technology and Industry Bureau will soon promulgate the Hong Kong I&T Development Blueprint to chart Hong Kong’s way towards an international I&T centre under four broad directions, namely, enhancing local I&T ecosystem; expanding local talent pools; developing Hong Kong into a smart city; and proactively integrating into the country’s overall development while consolidating Hong Kong’s international outlook. He looks forward to working hand-in-hand with all members of the industry and the community at large to press ahead with these important missions. 

The Hong Kong ICT Awards aims to recognise and promote outstanding local ICT inventions and applications. It serves as an annual flagship event of the local industry since its debut in 2006. In addition to encouraging and recognising local innovations, the Awards also helps the winners and their products enter the Mainland and overseas markets.

Steered by the Office of the Government Chief Information Officer, and with the concerted efforts of all Leading Organisers, the Steering Committee and Standards Assurance Sub-committee, the Grand Judging Panel, judges, assessors and supporting organisations, the Hong Kong ICT Awards concluded successfully. The Chairman of the Grand Judging Panel, the President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Professor Teng Jin-guang, praised the high standard of entries and expressed that this year’s awardees have leveraged their expertise not only in pursuing innovative technologies to advance the frontiers of industry, but also in proactively converting their creative ideas into practical solutions. Professor Teng and the judges were greatly impressed and believed that the winning entries have great market potential and the ability to create significant benefits for the technological, social and economic development of Hong Kong.
