VinFast, the first Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has received the Autobest The Rising Star award in a ceremony at the 2022 Paris Motor Show. The award is to recognise the rapid emergence of VinFast: from a newcomer to leading the pack of ambitious new automotive brands in Europe.

Along with establishing its headquarters in France, Germany, and the Netherlands, as well as developing an extensive retail and service network, VinFast continues to seek a suitable location for a European manufacturing facility.

Piktina, an online marketplace for secondhand fashion in Vietnam, announced Tuesday it has raised $ 1 million in a seed round from Touchstone Partners, a Vietnam-focused venture capital firm.

VinFast, on the other hand, is taking a different approach. It is building a global EV brand. Besides its manufacturing complex in Hai Phong, Vietnam, VinFast will build a plant in US, and planning another in Europe. It is set to make history as the first car brand from Southeast Asia to build manufacturing plant in the US and Europe.

VinFast, the automotive arm of Vingroup, on Saturday delivered the first batch of 100 VF 8 all-electric sport utility vehicles (SUVs) to local customers. Vietnamese EdTech startup EDUPIA has announced a $14 million Series A fundraise led by Jungle Ventures. The round also saw participation from Alibaba-backed eWTP Capital, and Vietnam-based VC, ThinkZone Ventures.
