The United States International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has committed to investing $15 million in Wavemaker Impact, a climate-tech venture capital fund based in Singapore that covers Southeast Asia.

The new funds will accelerate the company’s move to amplify its brand presence across Southeast Asia. This includes enhancing its logistics capabilities, refining authentication processes, expanding its slew of in-house collections, and optimising its environmentally-conscious delivery process.

The Land Transport Authority said on Thursday it is looking to change the framework for the taxi and ride-hailing industries. It will focus on availability of supply, resilience and the inclusivity of services, while also looking at matters such as the adoption of clean-energy vehicles.

Tencent Cloud’s inaugural Web3 product is now live in the availability zones of Hong Kong and Singapore, serving customers worldwide.

Temasek, NTU and NUS will also provide the start-ups with access to their networks of businesses and mentors. At least two start-ups will be launched annually and they will be provided with entrepreneurial mentorship, funding, and support to position them for long-term global success.

The fund corpus includes a dedicated co-investment envelope of $50 million for co-investing alongside the main fund in startups led by women founders.

Tin Men Capital, a Singapore-based venture capital firm which focuses on Southeast Asian B2B tech startups has invested $3 million in the total $8 million financing raised by Manuva.

Igloo has appointed John Chen as Country Manager, Igloo Thailand. In his new role, Chen will spearhead the growth and operations of Igloo in the market, in addition to establishing more strategic partnerships and delivering an expanded range of insurance products to Thai consumers.

The Singapore 100 Women in Tech (SG100WIT) 2023 is the third edition, and it received a total of 800 nominations – an increase of almost one-third from the 2021 edition, signalling the growing recognition and value that women bring to the tech sector.

The sovereign fund said its investments in China remain unchanged and the decision is driven by operational considerations and does not affect the fund’s investment strategy or its investments in China.
