South Korea’s Korea Investment Real Asset Management (KIRA), LG Sinar Mas, and Indonesia’s SM+ Data Centers have announced that SMX01, a 21-MW AI-ready data center in Jakarta, has reached Ready for Service status.
In a statement on Monday, SM+ Data Centers said the facility sits in Jakarta’s central business district. SM+ Data Centers owns and manages it, with KIRA as the investment partner. LG Sinar Mas, a joint venture between South Korea’s LG CNS and SM+, is responsible for its design, construction, and technical operations.
SM+ Data Centers highlighted demand for AI and cloud infrastructure is growing across Southeast Asia. Revenue from AI applications in Indonesia rose 127 percent between the first halves of 2024 and 2025, the fastest growth in Southeast Asia over that period.
Herson Suindah, president director and group CEO of SM+ Holdings, said computing needs are diversifying, with some customers still running conventional systems and others requiring much higher performance for AI. SMX01 can expand with the market and its customers’ needs.
SMX01 can serve conventional enterprise workloads and higher-density AI computing, with modular expansion as demand grows. It is among the first colocation facilities in the region designed to support liquid cooling in all of its data halls, alongside conventional air cooling.
The facility is carrier-neutral, so customers can connect through several internet providers. Four network entry points and links to SM+’s edge data center network connect Jakarta, other Indonesian cities, and international networks.
SM+ owns and manages 31 data centers across 25 Indonesian cities, including 30 edge facilities, with nearly 45 megawatts of combined IT load in operation.
