Swap Mobile has launched a digital-first mobile service in Singapore using StarHub’s 4G and 5G networks, combining monthly mobile plans with a handset subscription that allows customers to request a replacement phone after six months.
Under the company’s Device Subscription arrangement, customers can obtain selected mid-range or flagship smartphones without an upfront handset payment. To change devices after six months, customers must return the existing phone and begin a new 24-month subscription. The option is therefore a new contract rather than a free handset replacement.
The service also allows customers to adjust their data, call and text allowances each month. Plans include some Asia Pacific roaming data, with additional options for travel to Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
Swap Mobile said handset subscriptions include its Swap Protect Pro device coverage for accidental damage, attended theft and cracked screens. Standalone SIM plans include screen-crack coverage, according to the company. Specific exclusions and replacement charges depend on its terms.
Launch promotions advertise SIM plans starting at S$1 a month and device subscriptions starting at S$5.90 a month for the first three months, with regular prices applying afterward. The company did not provide a single standard monthly price covering all devices and plan configurations in its announcement.
