Two American businesses, WEX Inc. and payments group Mastercard, will combine fuel, maintenance, tolling, and parking payments for vehicle fleets into a single system across Asia-Pacific.
In a statement on Monday, Mastercard said the two have reached a partnership for the move, without any financial detail. Maintenance, tolling, and parking costs for fleet operators often sit on separate payment systems, adding reconciliation work for managers, according to the release.
The cooperation, as the region’s first unified fleet payments network fuel, comes as Asia-Pacific ranks as the fastest-growing region for fleet management. Fleet-card transaction volumes in the region reached $310 billion in 2025, or 31 percent of the global total. It can grow at a compound annual rate (CAGR) of 14.3 percent through 2030.
Matt Arthur, vice president and general manager for APAC mobility at WEX, said fleets increasingly competes on simplicity. The cooperation would give operators a single view of spending as they shift toward mixed fuel-and-electric fleets.
Anouska Ladds, executive vice president for commercial and new payment flows in Asia-Pacific at Mastercard, said the partnership can combine the card network’s reach with WEX’s fleet experience to help businesses operate more efficiently. Mastercard network handled 175 billion transactions in 2025.
WEX said it ranks first globally in the volume of virtual card travel payments and accounts for half of all virtual card payments in the travel sector. WEX processed more than $237 billion in total volume across its platform in 2025.
