Saigontel, an infrastructure builder in Vietnam, has become an authorized distributor of SpaceX’s Starlink satellite-internet service and won a license to resell it.
In a statement last Saturday, Saigontel said the Ho Chi Minh City technology department granted Saigontel a licence on October 8. The license is given after Saigontel signed a cooperation agreement with Starlink Vietnam in September.
Saigontel can provide telecommunications services without owning network infrastructure, valid through 2030, the company said. It allows reselling fixed and mobile satellite internet nationwide, including at sea, and leased lines for mobile base stations.
Satellite internet can reach places that are hard to serve with ground networks and act as a backup for systems needing constant connectivity, the company said. Starlink uses low-earth-orbit satellites, giving lower delay than older geostationary systems.
Saigontel strives to deliver services to industrial parks, manufacturing, logistics, energy, and maritime customers, folding satellite links into wider systems rather than selling standalone access.
Saigontel is also joining a government pilot to close mobile-coverage gaps in 13 provinces and cities. Besides, in cooperation with Vietnam’s telecom authority and Starlink Vietnam, Saigontel plans to install 254 Starlink units, it said.
Starlink entered Vietnam under a five-year pilot approved in 2025 and its local unit was licensed in February 2026 to serve up to 600,000 terminals. Saigontel is among several local partners distributing the service.
