Advanced precision engineering and smart manufacturing firm SkyGate NHJ Technology Sdn. Bhd. has officially opened its new manufacturing facility in the Perai Free Industrial Zone, Penang, marking a step further in the company’s commitment to establishing a technology-driven precision engineering operation in Malaysia.

The new facility occupies approximately 36,000 square feet of manufacturing space and is designed to support digitalised CNC manufacturing, automation and advanced machining capabilities, the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) said in a statement on last Friday.

The facility is equipped with advanced horizontal and 5-axis CNC machining technologies to enhance manufacturing precision, productivity and efficiency.

Established on July 14, 2025, SkyGate NHJ Technology Sdn Bhd is a joint venture between a subsidiary of Penang-based SkyGate Solutions Berhad and Singapore-based New Jin Hai Pte. Ltd. The partnership combines SkyGate Solutions’ local presence and network with New Jin Hai’s more than three decades of experience in precision engineering.

Chow Kon Yeow, the Chief Minister of Penang, said SkyGate NHJ Technology’s partnerships could create opportunities beyond investment in manufacturing capacity, including technology transfer, localization and the development of new capabilities within Penang’s local ecosystem.

“Penang is home to more than 30 automated test equipment (ATE) companies, supported by over 80 ecosystem partners across automation, precision engineering and semiconductor manufacturing,

“SkyGate NHJ Technology’s precision manufacturing capabilities, serving sectors ranging from semiconductors and electronics to medical, optical and aerospace, position the company well to contribute to this wider high-technology ecosystem,” he added.

Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim Sikh Abdul Majid, Chief Executive Officer of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), said, SkyGate NHJ Technology’s investment reflects the kind of collaboration Malaysia seeks to attract, one that brings together local participation with international expertise, technology and know-how.

“Beyond the investment itself, their partnership will strengthen local capabilities, nurture engineering talent and advance Malaysia’s aspiration under the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030 to move towards higher-value and more technology-intensive manufacturing,

“MIDA remains committed to supporting companies as they expand their operations and contribute to Malaysia’s advanced manufacturing ecosystem,” he added.

Li Jian, the Chief Executive Officer of SkyGate NHJ Technology, said the firm will leverage New HongJi’s core technological strengths in ultra-precision components, thin-wall and complex-shaped components, and the application of automation technologies, while integrating these capabilities with Malaysia’s local manufacturing expertise and processes.

“Our goal is to establish a manufacturing benchmark that combines both efficiency and precision. We will also provide an open platform for local industry players to connect, exchange knowledge and learn from one another, while actively integrating into Penang’s industrial ecosystem,

“Through these efforts, we aim to create high-skilled employment opportunities, strengthen collaboration across the upstream and downstream supply chains, and contribute to the advancement of Penang’s manufacturing sector towards greater precision, efficiency, digitalization and intelligent manufacturing,” he added.
