The Japanese unit of Vietnam’s technology giant FPT will take on the Polish software-design operations of Japan’s Nippon Seiki, extending an automotive-software partnership between the two companies from Japan and Vietnam into Europe.

In a statement on Wednesday, FPT said FPT Japan Holdings and Nippon Seiki signed a basic business-alliance agreement to deepen cooperation on designing and developing automotive software. Additionally, Nippon Seiki’s European arm, Nippon Seiki (Europe) B.V., and a newly formed FPT subsidiary, FPT Poland, signed a business-transfer agreement for the Polish design organization.

Under the transfer, the Polish design team moves from Nippon Seiki’s European arm to FPT Poland. Nippon Seiki continues as a client, buying software and engineering services from the new company.

FPT Poland will absorb the design and development team moving from the European arm and keep providing software and engineering services to the Nippon Seiki group, giving priority to service stability during the transition.

FPT Poland will focus on automotive and embedded-software engineering, head-up-display software development and related display and human-machine-interface work, along with system engineering, testing and quality assurance.
