Philippine Payments Management Inc. (PPMI) and Ant International’s Alipay+ have enabled Alipay+ on QR Ph, allowing international visitors to use supported home-market e-wallets and banking apps at merchants that accept the Philippine national QR payment standard.
The integration lets participating merchants receive payments from Alipay+ partner users through their existing QR Ph codes, without requiring a separate QR acceptance setup for those overseas payment apps.
The companies said the connection is intended to extend the Philippines’ domestic interoperable QR network into cross-border commerce, with micro, small and medium-sized enterprises among the merchants expected to benefit.

QR Ph opens to Alipay+ partner users
Under the arrangement, an eligible traveler can scan a merchant’s QR Ph code using a supported Alipay+ partner wallet or banking app and complete the transaction through the same national QR infrastructure used by local payment providers.
PPMI General Manager Carmelita “Melit” Araneta said the partnership extends QR Ph’s interoperability beyond the domestic market and gives Filipino merchants another way to serve international customers.
Alipay+ Global Growth Center General Manager Danny Chung said the aim is to let travelers continue using familiar payment apps while giving local merchants access to a wider customer base.
The announcement comes as digital payments continue to take a larger share of Philippine retail activity. The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ 2025 Report on E-Payments Measurement says digital payments accounted for 64.69 percent of retail transaction volume in 2025. PPMI and Alipay+ also said QR Ph transaction volume increased more than thirteenfold during the year.
Part of a wider national-QR strategy
Alipay+ said it is now connected to more than 10 national QR schemes across Asia, the Middle East and Latin America. The company says its network connects more than 2 billion consumer accounts and over 50 mobile payment providers across more than 220 markets.
The Philippine integration follows similar efforts to connect Alipay+ with national payment infrastructure in other markets. In July, TNGlobal reported that Ant International integrated Alipay+ with Argentina’s Transferencias 3.0 national QR payment network, allowing supported overseas wallets to pay participating merchants through the local QR system.
QR Ph is the Philippines’ national interoperable QR standard under the National Retail Payment System. It is designed to let participating banks and e-money issuers transact through a common QR framework rather than maintaining separate proprietary QR codes.
PPMI, which operates as the country’s payment system management body under the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ National Retail Payment System framework, works with banks and non-bank e-money issuers across services including InstaPay and PESONet.
The new Alipay+ connection is focused on inbound cross-border payments. The announcement did not disclose transaction fees, settlement economics or a separate rollout timetable by merchant category.
