Samsung Malaysia Electronics and Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) have jointly launched QR payment functionality within Samsung Wallet in Malaysia, allowing eligible Samsung Galaxy users to access Maybank’s MAE Scan & Pay feature natively within the wallet application from July 21, 2026.

In a statement last Friday, Samsung Malaysia Electronics, under South Korean chaebol Samsung, said the two sides have signed a collaboration agreement for the move. The integration allows users to initiate QR payments with a swipe within Samsung Wallet, completing transactions locally in Malaysia as well as regionally across Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Cambodia.

Users also earn Samsung Reward points with each transaction, redeemable for Samsung products and vouchers on the Samsung Members application.

Charles Kim, President of Samsung Malaysia Electronics, said the partnership with Maybank expands the Samsung Wallet ecosystem in Malaysia by bringing QR payments directly into the wallet, allowing users to pay within seconds.

Mohd Amri Mohd Sofian, Head of Community Financial Services Malaysia at Maybank, said the integration of MAE Scan & Pay into Samsung Wallet is part of the bank’s focus on delivering frictionless payment journeys. The collaboration reflects its commitment to advancing digital innovation through ecosystem partnerships.
