Singapore’s Ant International has closed a Series A equity financing round of approximately $1.2 billion, with participation from existing investors Ant Group and Alibaba Group, alongside other unnamed international investment institutions.

In a statement on Tuesday, Ant International said it would utilize the proceeds to push global expansion and product development in merchant payments, account management, and financial services for small and medium-sized enterprises and larger enterprises globally.

Ant International began independent operations in 2024 and operates primarily across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America. It connects more than 150 million global merchants with more than 2 billion user accounts through a network of banks, card organizations, mobile payment providers, and technology companies.

Its four business lines are Alipay+, a cross-border payment gateway; Antom, a merchant payment and digitisation service; WorldFirst, a cross-border payments platform for businesses; and Bettr, a financial services platform. Ant International utilizes AI to power up its merchant payment, treasury, and credit technology solutions.
