Malaysia’s Zetrix AI Berhad group will establish as the underlying protocol for the Philippines’ public blockchain infrastructure, marking the second country after Malaysia to adopt Zetrix as a sovereign-grade blockchain platform.

In a statement on Tuesday, Zetrix, a blockchain technology and AI developer, said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Philippines’ Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) for the move.

Initial efforts will focus on deploying blockchain applications for cross-border interoperability between the national digital IDs of Malaysia and the Philippines, issuance and verification of Philippines government-issued credentials, and trade facilitation.

Henry R. Aguda, Secretary of DICT Philippines, said the initiative can build trust portable across systems and borders, helping remove unnecessary friction. The cooperation can help citizens access services faster and with greater confidence.

TS Wong, Group Managing Director of Zetrix AI, said the milestone marks another step in the company’s vision of bringing countries in the region onto a common integrated ecosystem to advance economic growth through stronger regional cooperation.

Zetrix already serves as the foundational chain of Malaysia’s national blockchain infrastructure launched in April 2025, and operates the international supernode to China’s national Xinghuo Blockchain Infrastructure and Facility.

Zetrix AI has operated in the Philippines for close to a decade as a digital government service enabler, featuring major government agencies as partners, including the Bureau of Internal Revenue, National Bureau of Investigation, Securities and Exchange Commission, Philippine Ports Authority, and Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.
