Google Cloud announced Tuesday the appointment of Saruj Thipsena as Country Manager of Thailand, who will lead the company’s go-to-market strategy, customer and partner engagement, and business operations.
In this role, Saruj will work with organizations across Thailand to help them leverage its powerful, optimized artificial intelligence (AI) portfolio to transform for the Agentic Era, the firm said in a statement.
Saruj will report to Mark Micallef, Managing Director for Southeast Asia.
According to the statement, Saruj brings more than two decades of experience across enterprise technology, cloud, cybersecurity, AI, and mission-critical digital infrastructure.
He joins Google Cloud from STelligence, a Thailand-based AI and data analytics company, where he was Executive Director and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) responsible for helping organizations apply AI and data-driven technologies to solve business challenges.
He also designed and developed AI technology legal and compliance datasets, and recently led the AI deployment for Thailand’s TH2OECD National Project.
Saruj also previously held senior leadership roles at Microsoft Thailand across cloud, cybersecurity, and generative AI, including Deputy Managing Director of the Cloud Solution Unit and Chief Information Security Officer.
In these roles, he helped Thai enterprises adopt cloud platforms, strengthen Zero Trust security, and explore AI-driven transformation.
Earlier in his career, he worked with Telcordia Technologies on telecommunications transformation and Mobile Number Portability programs across multiple countries, giving him deep exposure to national-scale infrastructure and cross-border technology deployment.
Saruj’s experience also includes a collaboration with UN ESCAP on an AI-assisted legal and compliance research system, where he contributed to the use of AI to make complex regulatory and policy information more accessible and actionable.
His deep expertise across global technology companies, national-scale infrastructure programs, Thai enterprises, startups, and international organizations gives him a unique perspective on how Thailand can accelerate digital transformation while building trust, resilience, and long-term competitiveness.
“Thailand is a critical growth engine for Southeast Asia’s digital economy, and our US$1 billion investment in Thailand and new cloud region in Bangkok reflects our absolute commitment to serving the country and our customers here,
“As we enter this next phase, world-class infrastructure must be matched by deep local collaboration,” said Mark Micallef, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, Google Cloud.
According to him, Saruj’s extensive technical background and proven history of helping Thai enterprises accelerate their digital transformation make him a fantastic addition to their team.
“We are excited to have him on board to deepen our local ecosystem collaborations and ensure Thai organizations can seamlessly leverage our AI capabilities to drive real business transformation,” he added.
Saruj Thipsena, Country Manager, Thailand, Google Cloud, said having partnered with Thai enterprises on AI and cybersecurity for years, he knows that digital transformation only succeeds when it balances cutting-edge innovation with strict data governance and trust.
“Thailand has the momentum to shape the region’s digital future, and Google Cloud is committed to being an open, collaborative partner in that journey,
“I’m excited to engage closely with our customers and the broader ecosystem to help Thai organizations accelerate responsible AI adoption and innovate with confidence,” he added.
According to the statement, Google Cloud’s industry leadership is driven by its powerful AI stack—including AI infrastructure, leading models like Gemini, data management capabilities, multi cloud security solutions, developer tools and platform, as well as agents and applications—that enables organizations to innovate in an Agentic Era.
