Google Cloud has on Tuesday named veteran tech executive Karim Siregar as Country Director for Indonesia.

The firm said in a statement that Karim will oversee local operations and lead market strategy, working closely with teams across the organization to deliver high-impact, artificial intelligence (AI)-driven solutions that serve evolving customer needs.

His focus will be empowering Indonesian businesses—from fast-growing digital natives to traditional enterprises—to harness the power of Google Cloud’s open, integrated AI offering, helping Indonesian organizations of all sizes successfully transition their operations for the Agentic Era.

He reports to Mark Micallef, Managing Director for Southeast Asia.

Karim joins Google Cloud following senior executive roles within the country’s leading financial and technology institutions.

He most recently served as Chief Information Officer at PT BFI Finance Indonesia Tbk (BFIN).

Prior to this, he was the founding President Director of PT Bank Jago Tbk, where he built the foundation for Indonesia’s first fully ecosystem-embedded digital bank, alongside serving as Chief Executive Officer of Dkatalis Digital Labs.

His extensive 20-year career also includes serving as IT Director at Bank BTPN (now Bank SMBCI Tbk) and handling senior technology infrastructure leadership roles at Bank Danamon and Bank Mega.

“Indonesian enterprises and digital natives are among the most ambitious in the region when it comes to leveraging technology to solve real-world problems,

“As organizations look to move past the initial phase of AI experimentation, the mandate has shifted entirely to scalable, real-world deployment that drives immediate value for their end-users,” said Mark Micallef, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, Google Cloud.

According to him, Karim’s exceptional track record of building, governing, and scaling digital-first institutions in Indonesia makes him the perfect leader for this next chapter.

“His deep understanding of embedded digital systems, financial inclusion, and broad-scale platform collaboration will ensure that Google Cloud remains the most trusted partner for local organizations looking to unlock the full potential of the Agentic Era,” he added.

Karim Siregar, Country Director, Indonesia, Google Cloud, said having spent years working within Indonesia’s digital banking and platform ecosystems, he knows firsthand that technology only matters when it simplifies lives and creates practical, measurable value for real users.

According to him, their local organizations — from fast-growing digital natives to traditional enterprises — are looking for trusted paths to bring secure AI directly into daily customer interactions.

“Through impactful frameworks like Indonesia BerdAIa and our dedicated local security operations data region in Jakarta, we are enabling technical teams to build and scale custom agentic solutions on an open architecture, all while keeping their sensitive telemetry strictly within national borders,

“I am thrilled to partner side-by-side with our Indonesian customers and local ecosystem to accelerate a secure, responsible digital future that benefits the broader economy,” he added.

According to the statement, Google Cloud’s industry leadership is driven by its powerful AI stack—including AI infrastructure, leading models like Gemini, data management capabilities, multi cloud security solutions, developer tools and platform, as well as agents and applications—that enables organizations to innovate in an Agentic Era.
