GSR, a crypto capital markets and liquidity partner, has secured strategic investment from SC Ventures, the Singapore-based fintech investment arm of Standard Chartered.
In a statement on Tuesday, the two sides said the move highlights growing links between traditional banking and cryptocurrency markets. The investment marks SC Ventures as the first external strategic shareholder in GSR since the latter was founded in 2013. Both firms said the partnership reflects a shared focus on expanding the role of digital assets in global finance.
The deal is part of a broader collaboration aimed at connecting traditional financial systems with crypto markets and increasing access to tokenization. GSR said the partnership supports its position within the digital asset ecosystem, where it provides advisory, liquidity, and asset management services to both crypto-native firms and global financial institutions.
Xin Song, CEO of GSR, said institutional digital asset markets are developing quickly and combining capital markets expertise with established banking infrastructure can help firms reach a leading role. The executive emphasized tokenization as a key area of focus for the partnership.
The companies plan to work on developing market infrastructure designed to support institutional adoption of digital assets, with an emphasis on scalability, compliance, and integration into the global financial system.
Alex Manson, CEO of SC Ventures, said future developments in digital assets will depend on infrastructure capable of supporting liquidity and market resilience. The executive added that the investment aligns with SC Ventures’ focus on building institutional ecosystems in the sector.
