SG Enviro (SGE), a Singapore-based industrial wastewater engineering firm, announced Monday it has secured S$8 million ($6.22 million) in strategic investment led by Emerald Technology Ventures, a global climate-tech venture capital.

This significant funding will accelerate SGE’s expansion across Southeast Asia (SEA) and support the development and integration of proprietary technologies in its comprehensive solution portfolio, SGE said in a statement.

The investment will fuel SGE’s strategic expansion into Malaysia, Indonesia, and other key SEA markets, where demand for industrial wastewater treatment infrastructure continues to grow rapidly.

This expansion aligns with the region’s increasing focus on environmental sustainability and regulatory compliance in industrial operations.

Since founding in 2018 by environmental engineer Guah Eng Hock, SG Enviro has established itself as a specialist in designing, integrating, and operating industrial wastewater treatment technologies specifically tailored to SEA’s unique environmental and regulatory requirements.

The partnership with Emerald represents more than just financial investment – it provides SGE with access to a global network of cutting-edge water technology companies within Emerald’s portfolio.

SG Enviro will integrate breakthrough technologies across the entire solution spectrum – from advanced membrane systems and smart monitoring technologies to artificial intelligence (AI)-driven optimization platforms and innovative treatment chemistries.

“This investment marks a significant milestone for us. It not only validates our belief that industrial water treatment in Asia requires region-specific, practical engineering – it also gives us Emerald’s support with curated global access to leading-edge technologies to help us be more efficient in our operations and better serve our customers,

“Emerald’s network positions us to scale up and create transformational impact across SEA’s industrial landscape,” said Guah Eng Hock, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of SGE.

Dr. Helge Daebel, Head of Emerald’s Water Practice and newly appointed member of SGE’s Board, commented that the firm looks forward to connecting its global portfolio of water tech entrepreneurs with SGE’s strong execution and operation capabilities.

“Together, we can bring world-class solutions to SEA’s industries – where the need for water resilience has never been more urgent,” he added.

Looking ahead, SGE envisions becoming SEA’s premier integrated water technology solutions provider.

The firm sees its customers will benefit from end-to-end solutions (from initial assessment and design through implementation, operation, and ongoing optimization); global technology access (direct pipeline to the world’s most advanced water treatment innovations); regional expertise (deep understanding of local requirements combined with international best practices).

It also sees them gain from scalable platforms (solutions that grow with our customers’ expanding operations); sustainability leadership (driving the transition toward circular water economy principles across regional industries).

This investment positions SGE at the forefront of SEA’s industrial water treatment evolution, where it will lead the integration of global innovation with regional expertise to deliver unprecedented value to its customers, said the statement.
