Malaysia-based Sunway Construction Group Berhad (SunCon) announced Thursday that it has secured MYR 1.16 billion ($280 million) worth of data center projects.

The firm said in a statement that its wholly-owned subsidiary of the group, Sunway Construction Sdn Bhd (SCSB), has accepted works orders from a multinational technology company headquartered in the United States for the provision of general contractor works for two data center projects.

The group expects these projects to contribute positively to the group’s earnings for the current and subsequent financial years, with completion targeted for the first
quarter of 2027.

It is noted that Sunway Construction has secured MYR 3.5 billion ($820 million) worth of new orders to date, accounting for more than half of its 2025 order book replenishment target range of MYR4.5 billion ($1.06 billion) to MYR 6 billion ($1.41 billion).

As a result, its total outstanding order book has risen to MYR 7.9 billion ($1.86 billion).

“The projects win further expand the group’s order book for the year and fortify earnings visibility over the next two years,

“Our strong performance in the first quarter of 2025 reflects the sustained momentum across our operations,” Sunway Construction Group Managing Director Liew Kok Wing said.

“We are confident that this positive momentum will continue in the current financial year, underpinned by accelerated progress on data center projects and a robust outstanding order book, including newly secured projects,

“We remain committed to delivering sustainable total shareholder returns, supported by the positive outlook,” he added.

SunCon is Malaysia’s largest pure-play construction group, listed on Bursa Malaysia in 2015.

The firm provides a full range of design and construction services namely building, civil engineering / infrastructure, foundation and geotechnical engineering, mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) services, sustainable energy services and manufacturing and sale of precast concrete products; offering end-to-end solutions for its clients.
