Singapore’s Mandai Wildlife Group has developed an internal artificial intelligence platform that allows animal care and veterinary teams to search more than 600,000 keeper and veterinary notes using natural language.
The platform, called Animal 360, was built with Snowflake and implementation partner Infinite Lambda. It combines husbandry, veterinary, nutrition and genealogy records that were previously spread across multiple systems.
Mandai said the system uses Snowflake Cortex AI and large language models to retrieve information and produce summaries for staff. The group said the information is intended to help specialists build context more quickly before applying their own professional judgment.
Pilot expands into wider deployment
Animal 360 has completed an initial pilot with Mandai Wildlife Group’s Life Sciences teams and is now moving into wider deployment.
At Singapore Zoo, primate keepers have used the platform to retrieve and analyse historical mating records for a troop of proboscis monkeys, helping them estimate the likely due date of a pregnant female.
Mandai said the same approach could also be applied to welfare and pathology records, where staff may need to identify patterns across large volumes of historical data.
The group manages about 20,000 animals across more than 900 species. Daily keeper observations, treatments, breeding records and nutrition logs have accumulated into a large internal knowledge base.
AI used as an information layer
Siew Yeow Loye, chief information officer at Mandai Wildlife Group, said the main benefit is reducing the time required to assemble information that already exists across the organization’s systems.
The announcement does not suggest that Animal 360 makes veterinary or husbandry decisions autonomously. Mandai describes the system as an information and summarization layer for trained staff.
The organization has also built a separate Business 360 platform for commercial operations.
Animal 360 received the 2026 Snowflake APJ Data Drivers Award in the Data for Good category. The award was announced as part of the same release.
