ST Telemedia Global Data Centers (STT GDC), a Singapore-based data center operator, has secured a green financing facility of up to $1.37 billion to fund the development of STT Johor, its data center campus in Johor, Malaysia.
In a statement on Wednesday, STT GDC said the package includes a green loan facility for the first phase of the campus. United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) acted as sole coordinator and mandated lead arranger, with OCBC Bank (Malaysia), Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia, and CIMB Bank as mandated lead arrangers.
STT Johor, at the Nusa Cemerlang Industrial Park, has a development capacity of up to 166 MW of IT load. The campus can serve demand for cloud computing, AI, and high-performance computing. It can also support the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone, a cross-border economic initiative between the two governments.
Nelson Lim, CFO of STT GDC, said the green loan aligned with the company’s approach to integrate sustainability into financing and data center operation.
Darryll Sinnappa, the company’s country head for Malaysia, said the campus can support Malaysia’s digital economy while the company invests in local skills and partnerships.
STT GDC operates data centers across 12 markets, including Singapore, the United Kingdom, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea, and Malaysia.
