HSBC is establishing a Global AI Center of Excellence in Singapore in the second half of 2026, hiring more than 100 AI specialists to develop artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities for deployment across its global network.
In a statement on Monday, the global bank said the center will initially focus on three areas: enhancing customer wealth journey conversations, introducing agentic treasury solutions, and developing AI-enabled digital payments.
HSBC aims to build a talent pipeline across natural language processing, data science, AI governance, and human-centered design, working with educational institutions and government bodies in Singapore.
The AI specialists will work alongside David Rice, HSBC’s Chief AI Officer, HSBC added.
Georges Elhedery, Group CEO of HSBC, said the center will help drive the bank’s global AI vision to deliver personalized customer experiences at scale in real time, while keeping human judgement, decision-making, and accountability at the core.
In a recent survey, HSBC said 76 percent of Singapore’s mass affluent and high-net-worth investors use AI for finance and investment, above the global average of 72 percent. However, they continue to look to financial advisers to validate AI-generated insights before making investment decisions.
