Sea Limited, a Singapore-based technology company founded in Singapore, announced Thursday an expanded strategic partnership with Google to advance the development of artificial intelligence (AI)-powered innovations that can serve users across Sea’s core business lines of digital entertainment, e-commerce, and digital financial services.

Sea said in a statement that this expanded strategic partnership builds on a fruitful and long-running history of collaboration between the two companies, which includes recent initiatives such as the YouTube Shopping Affiliate Program (with Shopee) and Free Fire League on Google Play (with Garena).

“At Sea, we have always believed in the fundamental power of technology to improve lives and create long-lasting value for the communities we serve,” said Forrest Li, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sea.

“AI is the next big technology revolution, and we believe that it has huge potential to positively transform our business and create value in our markets,

“This partnership with Google on AI will drive innovation in the business application of the technology at scale, and allow us to make AI more accessible to the digitally underserved in our markets,” he added.

Sanjay Gupta, President, Google Asia Pacific, said by combining Google’s AI leadership with Sea’s innovative ecosystem, they are building products that don’t just solve today’s challenges but define the future of gaming, commerce, and financial services.

“And we’re developing these solutions responsibly, with user privacy and safety at the core,

“Together, we are accelerating the adoption of this transformative technology and unlocking the immense economic potential of Southeast Asia’s digital landscape,” he added.

The partnership was formalized through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the companies, which reflects both parties’ shared ambition to thoughtfully apply AI in scalable ways that deliver practical value and enhance everyday digital experiences.

Sea and Google will explore ways to advance AI-powered innovations across three core business lines – creating Next-Generation Gaming Experiences; advancing agentic commerce; innovating agentic payments.

Firstly, Garena and Google are looking to leverage Google’s AI solutions to enhance gamer experiences, as well as transform the productivity of game development and operations.

Garena may also have the opportunity to participate in early access pilots for Google’s latest AI research projects.

Shopee and Google will jointly explore the building of an AI agentic shopping prototype that can seamlessly integrate across Shopee and Google platforms to enhance the e-commerce discovery, engagement, and transaction experience.

Monee and Google will collaborate on the open, shared Agent Payments Protocol (AP2), where Monee will provide expert feedback on AP2, to ensure it is robust, secure, and suitable for the diverse digital financial services landscape of Southeast Asia – with the intention to later explore the piloting of an agentic payment experience across their platforms.
