Malaysia-based Capital A has announced the departure of Aireen Omar, marking the conclusion of her remarkable 20-year career driving innovation, growth and digital transformation across the group’s aviation and technology businesses.

Capital A said in a statement on last Thursday that Aireen joined AirAsia as Head of Corporate Finance, where she led aircraft financing and procurement, treasury, investor relations, and key joint ventures that supported the airline’s strategic expansion across ASEAN.

She later became Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Berhad, becoming one of the first female airline CEOs in Asia and steering the airline through some of its strongest-performing years from 2012 to 2017.

“Aireen has been a pivotal leader in the group’s evolution into a digital-first organization, spearheading technology and transformation initiatives across the group,” Capital A Chief Executive Officer Tony Fernandes said.

In 2023, Aireen was appointed President of Capital A’s Investment and Ventures division, where she led venture building and strategic investments.

Most recently, she served as Group Chief Executive Officer of BigPay, championing its product innovation, regional expansion and continued growth across ASEAN.
