LiveIn, a Malaysia-based flexible housing provider, announced Thursday that it has acquired KoolKost, an Indonesia-based long-term accommodation brand from RedDoorz.

With this move, LiveIn expands its reach in Indonesia, adding 27 KoolKost properties across six cities to its portfolio, LiveIn said in a statement.

KoolKost will continue to operate as a sub-brand under LiveIn Indonesia. Gradually, LiveIn will bring KoolKost properties in line with its standardized product categories, including LiveIn Intro, LiveIn Select, and LiveIn Signature.

“This marks a pivotal moment for LiveIn as we continue to strengthen our presence in Indonesia,

“By leveraging KoolKost’s extensive network of property partners and its established brand, we are excited about the potential to drive strong results for property owners, as well as provide young people with flexible housing that fuels their growth and aspirations,” said Keek Wen Khai, Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of LiveIn.

Launched in 2020 by RedDoorz, KoolKost offers budget-friendly living spaces commonly known as kos-kosan in Indonesia.

Designed for travelers staying for long periods of time, students, and workers, KoolKost properties come with essential amenities like Wi-Fi, free drinking water, and room cleaning services.

The brand has grown across Indonesia and established a strong presence in the long stay market.

“We welcome LiveIn’s entry into the Indonesian market and believe their presence will add value to the extended stay ecosystem. With a market of this scale, there’s space for multiple players to contribute and solve key challenges,

“Our focus remains on building Southeast Asia’s largest multi-brand hospitality company, with a strong emphasis on expanding our hotel brands such as RedDoorz and with an increasing focus on our mid-tier Sans hotel and Urbanview brands,” said Amit Saberwal, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of RedDoorz.

Cited Statistics Indonesia, the statement projected that by 2035, 66.6 percent of Indonesia’s population will reside in urban areas.

As the demand for flexible living spaces grows, LiveIn said it is stepping up to meet this need by focusing on quality and affordability, using its online-to-offline (O2O) model and ecosystem to deliver a more holistic living experience.

LiveIn currently operates over 10,000 rooms in four countries.
