U Mobile, a Malaysia-based 5G network provider, has signed an agreement with government agency Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), that will enable the telco to play a critical role in supporting the group on its digital transformation drive.

The duo said in a statement on Monday that as a start, U Mobile will be implementing enterprise grade connectivity solutions to all FELDA offices and branches across the nation.

This will see FELDA’s traditional communication platform that consists of physical landlines be upgraded to a converged solution that will allow greater mobility, efficiency as well as the ability to provide better customer service.

The uplift will enable individuals working at FELDA’s offices and branches nationwide to access voice calls or data across three devices through one phone number.

For FELDA, this transformation brings about multiple benefits such as cost efficiencies by eliminating the need for many phone lines, improved customer service as staff can respond to calls without being at their desks, scalability as FELDA can add on extensions to accommodate growing business needs, as well as enhanced productivity as staff may collaborate more efficiently.

“As Malaysia’s future second 5G network provider, U Mobile is delighted to be playing such a critical role in FELDA’s digital transformation drive,

“The connectivity solution is just the beginning of what we see to be a continuing partnership where 5G technology and solutions will be key to FELDA’s journey,” said Neil Tomkinson, Chief Information Officer of U Mobile.

According to him,, FELDA is the firm’s first government-linked company for its enterprise business.

He said the firm is looking forward to support even more initiatives that contribute to the nation’s growth in the coming months.

Syirfan Indra Mitra Surya bin Hussin, FELDA’s Strategic Communications Director, said the partnership is a significant achievement that reflects the firms expertise and commitment to providing the latest technology.

“The collaboration with U Mobile, which began during the 2024 Hari Peneroka FELDA, marks a major step towards empowering the FELDA community with innovative digital solutions,

“With the potential of 5G to enhance efficiency and productivity, FELDA is confident that U Mobile will play a crucial role as a strategic partner in meeting the needs of our community, he said.

He said this also ensures that FELDA continues to progress and does not fall behind in the rapidly evolving technological landscape.

The initiative is an outcome of a Memorandum of Understanding signed by both parties at Hari Peneroka FELDA in July 2024.
