The Department of Science and Technology – Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI), THE BLOKCLABS, INC. (The BLOKC) and Superteam Philippines are set to formalize a groundbreaking partnership to propel blockchain technology and Web3 initiatives in the Philippines.
The trio said in a statement on Friday that the partnership will be formalized through a memorandum of agreement (MOA).
According to the statement, this collaboration aims to promote science, technology, and innovation through training, workshops, and capability building.
It will support advanced research and development in blockchain technology and facilitate knowledge transfer to various stakeholders.
By combining expertise, the partnership also seeks to enhance technological innovation and create new opportunities in the Philippine tech sector, fostering growth and advancement in the field of blockchain and beyond.
It is noted that DOST-ASTI will collaborate with The BLOKC and Superteam Philippines on educational activities and explore how blockchain and Web3 can be used in local industries.
DOST-ASTI will also offer internships, providing hands-on experience to students interested in blockchain research.
The BLOKC and Superteam Philippines will also help organize joint activities such as but not limited to workshops, training, bootcamps and hackathons, connect DOST-ASTI with its partner institutions, provide grants to promising Web3 projects and recommend students for internships at DOST-ASTI.
This partnership will also support DOST-ASTI’s ongoing Data Protect Project, which focuses on using blockchain for privacy protection.
The project includes developing a decentralized application called SIERRA.
“This partnership will help us create new opportunities in blockchain technology and Web3 education,
“By working with The BLOKC and Superteam Philippines, we can foster innovation and develop skilled professionals in this important field,” said Dr. Franz A. De Leon, Director of DOST-ASTI.
Emerson Fonseca, Chief Executive Officer of The BLOKC and Country Lead of Superteam Philippines, added the partnership with DOST-ASTI represents a significant leap for blockchain education in the Philippines.
“Together, we will enhance government processes and create opportunities for Filipino talent in the Web3 space,
“We eagerly anticipate the positive impact this partnership will have on our country’s technological field and the creation of more blockchain projects with the government,” he added.
According to the statement, the partnership is expected to have far-reaching benefits, impacting educational institutions, government agencies, and private sector organizations across the Philippines, including the Polytechnic University of the Philippines and other DOST-ASTI partner universities.
The DOST-ASTI is a research and development institute focused on information and communications technology and microelectronics.
The BLOKC is a provider of education, training, and certifications focused on blockchain and web3 and has leveraged on blockchain technology and launched various programs, syllabus, and elective courses for the academe, institutions, and government.
