Malaysian hypermarket and retail chain Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd has on Wednesday launched a brand new mobile ewallet to further enhance the use of digital technology among consumers.
The firm said in a statement that MYDINPay provides a seamless, secure and efficient payment solution besides attractive incentives.
MYDIN Managing Director Ameer Ali Mydin said MYDIN was the first wholesaler and retailer in the country to develop an e-wallet app.
“MYDIN has synergized with partners in various fields, including payment technology, logistics, goods storage, and stock management to ensure we remain competent and agile in competing in the technological world,” he added.
He is confident of a positive reaction from its users, based on MYDIN’s good track record and experience through various campaigns with e-wallet partners.
“The unique aspect of MYDINPay is that it allows MYDIN to be more innovative by focusing on promotions, rewards, coupons and rebates tailored to MYDIN’s business format,” he noted.
He said MYDIN also catered to those who were not tech savvy, adding that when its customers started using the digital app, there would be a ripple effect for more to digitize their daily routines.
It is noted that MYDIN collaborated with WavPay to develop the e-wallet app.
Gobind Singh Deo, the Minister of Communications and Multimedia in Malaysia, commended the hypermarket’s efforts, saying MYDINPay aligned with the government’s efforts to digitalize the economy.
