Malaysian digital media firm Catcha Digital Berhad, via its subsidiary, has entered into a joint venture agreement with Khairy Jamaluddin (KJ) and Shahril Hamdan (Shahril), the founders of Keluar Sekejap Sdn Bhd (Keluar Sekejap) to co-found and form a new disruptive digital media business, KS Lagi.

This new business will combine the digital reach and strength of Catcha Digital with Keluar Sekejap, one of the new champions of the digital media and podcast space in Malaysia, Catcha Digital said in a statement on Monday.

According to the statement, Catcha Digital intends to assume commercial and business responsibilities for the existing Keluar Sekejap’s business and KS Lagi.

Additionally, KS Lagi will create and distribute new media content across Catcha Digital’s existing network that reaches approximately 20 million Malaysians every month.

Keluar Sekejap is a fast-growing media brand founded by KJ and Shahril, and has achieved tremendous success in the digital media space since its launch in 2023.

As one of the fastest growing digital media brands in Malaysia, it has amassed over 1.4 million subscribers and followers across its social media platforms, and over 39 million views on YouTube.

Keluar Sekejap has a distinct voice by being fair, unfiltered, and able to cover a broad range of subjects with sufficient depth while still making the content accessible to a mass audience.

“When we started Keluar Sekejap over a year ago, we didn’t dream we would have the platform we now have to influence discourse and have interesting conversations with personalities in and around politics,

“With KS Lagi, we want to build off that main Keluar Sekejap platform to have equally engaging conversations that are not just about politics, with equally interesting personalities through different content formats,” said Shahril.

“We already have in our stable Kindred Stories interviewing globally significant Muslims and Jugador TV as a football podcast – so as a company we have ventured away from politics,

“But with KS Lagi we’re going to take it up a gear,” he added.

Meanwhile, KJ said KS Lagi will expand on Keluar Sekejap’s success and will be a media platform that aims to help users live their best lives by curating lifestyle content that is contemporary yet timeless, relevant without being trashy, and informative in a way that respects users’ views.

“The platform will cover a wide range of topics, including health and wellness, nutrition and cuisine, literature and the arts, toys and tech, leaders and the everyman, faith and spirituality, business and growth, fashion and taste, and much more,” he added.

Patrick Grove, Chairman of Catcha Digital, said they are thrilled to partner with KJ and Shahril to co-found KS Lagi.

“Across Catcha Digital and Keluar Sekejap’s platform we are already reaching the vast majority of Malaysians every month, and we see our audience yearning for a new approach to content and we will be a key part of this,

“This collaboration aligns with our mission to build a leading profitable digital group in Southeast Asia, as we continue to pursue strategic partnerships, investments, and acquisitions that are accretive to our earnings per share,” he added.

To kick-start the new venture, Khailee Ng, one of Malaysia’s most prolific Tech Investors, has been appointed as a Strategic Advisor to KS Lagi and Shahzeeq Shahren (Shah) has been appointed as the venture’s Editor in Chief.

Shah is the Co-founder of BeautifulNara, a Malaysia’s celebrity and lifestyle media platform.

It is anticipated that KS Lagi will formally launch in the second half of 2024. More details of the joint venture will be announced subsequently.
