The EV trend is not only about electrifying a world driven by fossil fuels but also creating a new style, especially among the young generations. VinFast understands this, as demonstrated by their accessible mini-eSUV, and the electric pickup that is envisioned to become a mobile haven designed for adventure.
If there’s one thing the electric vehicle industry and the stock market have in common, it’s how people invest their money in the future. The EV lineup introduced at CES 2024 is how VinFast – one of the 5 biggest EV companies in the world by market cap – envisions the future.
Through a diverse range of electric vehicles, from the robust e-pickup truck concept to the budget-friendly mini-eSUV, from AI-driven mirror technology to the electric bike, VinFast paints a compelling picture of a future transformed by sustainable transportation.
In that painted future, electrified mobility streams across every road and reaches into the capillaries of daily life.
A bullseye for first-time electric adventurers
With studies indicating heightened interest in environmentalism and sustainable transportation among millennials and Gen Z, the VF 3 emerges as a potential ideal first car, particularly for young consumers seeking to actively participate in the ongoing electrification revolution.
Because of climate anxiety, 6 in 10 Gen Z-ers and millennials are willing to pay more for sustainable products and services, according to a Deloitte research.
A recent J.D. Power survey revealed that Gen Z is the fastest-growing segment for EV consideration, with millennials leading in overall consideration at 72 percent.
EVs are cutting-edge and innovative, which naturally appeals to younger generations. Additionally, Gen Z is the first group of purely digital natives, making the allure of these cars even stronger. Beyond the tech appeal, the environmental and cost benefits of owning EVs strike a chord with younger customers.
But here’s the problem. Financial experts believe that young people should spend less than $25,000 on their first car. With an average cost of $53,469 in July 2023 (Cox Automotive data), EVs might feel like a luxury item for younger customers.
Nonetheless, the mini e-SUV like VinFast VF 3 can make a sustainable future more accessible to young generations. When naming VinFast VF 3 and VF Wild among the “8 Coolest EV Innovations Announced at CES 2024,” INVERSE Magazine emphasized: “Vietnam’s Vinfast may turn out to be the ‘hack’ for Americans who want in on the EV transformation but aren’t willing (or able) to spend $60,000 for their piece of the dream.”
Untethering imagination, the VF 3 fuses practicality, creativity, and style into a catalyst for fresh joy, personal discovery, and creative sparks behind the wheel. VinFast’s mini SUV strikes a seamless balance between bold geometric blocks and fluid lines, crafting an aesthetically pleasing exterior that amplifies its owner’s personality.
Stepping into the VF 3’s minimalist cabin is like entering a haven of uncluttered calm. Ample legroom and clever storage solutions cater to passengers’ comfort, while essential smart features like voice-controlled navigation and ambient lighting enhance convenience. As a mini-eSUV, the VF 3 boasts a compact yet commanding presence, ideal for effortlessly conquering city streets.
Traveling nearly 8,000 km from Oregon to Las Vegas, Jeff Zurschmeide arrived at CES 2024, eyes peeled for VinFast’s US conquest. He found it in the VF 3, an urban electric stunner that’s turning heads and stealing hearts.
“It’s irresistible,” he gushed, “pure eye candy.” Though Americans tend towards the big and bold, the VF 3’s compact charm, paired with plush comfort, hits the sweet spot. Add in an investment-friendly price tag, and it’s a bullseye for first-time electric adventurers.
Beyond cutting-edge tech
At CES 2024, VinFast also dropped a bombshell on the pickup truck scene with the VF Wild concept. “It’s everything you need at CES,” gushed Brian Armstead of Pursuitus.com, “everyone is talking about the Wild.” The electric pickup truck concept tapped into America’s deep love for pickups and a fast-growing electric truck market projected to reach $299 billion by 2030, according to estimates by Fortune Business Insights.
But the electric pickup truck trend isn’t just about electrifying something familiar, either. For startup manufacturers, the EV truck is as much about aesthetics as it is about lifestyle. And Vietnamese manufacturer wants to be a part of the scene.
“This concept encapsulates our mission of making sustainable, high-quality EVs accessible,” declares Ms. Tran Mai Hoa, Deputy CEO of Sales and Marketing, VinFast Global. “This is not just a new product in our offering. It showcases our aspiration to venture into the fast-paced and thriving electric pickup truck market.”
Details are scarce, but the mid-size VF Wild’s dimensions (209″ long, 79″ wide) hint at a Ford Ranger competitor. Boasting class-leading versatility, the VF Wild seamlessly merges practicality with innovative design. Its power-folding mid-gate effortlessly expands the bed from 5 to 8 feet when the rear seats automatically fold down, creating the largest cargo space in its segment. This dynamic functionality empowers both effortless work and playful weekend adventures, all in refined comfort.
This lower, more compact truck could fill the void left by smaller, urban-friendly pickups that vanished from the US market years ago.
VinFast’s innovation goes beyond the stunning concept. Their MirrorSense technology, developed in collaboration with VinAI, earned the Innovation Award Honoree at CES 2024. This world-first AI system uses eye sensors, accurate to 0.4 inches, to automatically adjust all three rearview mirrors for optimal visibility. It can even adjust the driver’s seat for ultimate comfort.
Nonetheless, beyond sleek designs and cutting-edge tech, VinFast proves that sustainability doesn’t have to come at a premium. With vehicles like the budget-friendly VF 3, the e-bike, and the innovative VF Wild concept, VinFast paves the way for a future where sustainability and convenience go hand-in-hand, and everyone can be a part of the electric revolution.
