LS Eco Energy, under South Korean chaebol LS Group, will invest KRW64.86 billion ($49 million) in building a new production line for medium-sized ultracapacitor cells at its Vietnamese subsidiary, LS Cable & System Vietnam.
In a filing dated October 26 with the Korea Exchange, LS Eco Energy said the investment period runs from October 26, 2026, to June 30, 2027. The filing does not provide any other details, such as commercial values nor customers.
To help fund the project, the parent company will inject KRW35 billion into the subsidiary through a rights offering. The payment date is expected to be November 2, 2026, subject to approvals and procedures.
The parent’s board approved the capital injection on the same day, and the filings say no independent outside directors attended.
Ultracapacitors are energy storage devices that deliver high power and can charge and discharge quickly.
