VinFast, the electric vehicle (EV) maker under conglomerate Vingroup, remained Vietnam’s single biggest vehicle seller in the first nine months of 2026, delivering 177,697 cars at home, or roughly a third of a combined national total at 495,138 units.
In a statement last Saturday, VinFast reported 23,624 deliveries in September, up 17 percent from August. Its January-September sales of 177,697 already passed its full-year 2025 sales. VinFast said September marked its 25th straight month as the top-selling brand in Vietnam by units.
Meanwhile, the Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (VAMA) said market sales reached 35,094 vehicles in September, up 38 percent from August. For the nine months, the association put the whole-market total at 282,029 units, up 12 percent year on year. VAMA’s figures does not include VinFast and South Korean brand Hyundai.
Hyundai, assembled and distributed by Vietnamese firm TC Group, sold 3,872 vehicles in September, up 32 percent from August, for 35,412 over the nine months.
As a result, the vehicle sales in Vietnam reached 495,138 units in January-September. VinFast accounted for 36 percent, the biggest portion.
Toyota followed with 53,978 units; ahead of Hyundai with 35,412; Mitsubishi at 31,932; Ford at 30,353; Kia at 23,461; and Mazda at 22,460.
