As many as 62 percent of Vietnamese buyers utilize AI, including generative AI, to research before making purchase decisions, according to a survey of local market research firm Q&Me.

The “How Vietnamese use AI before the shopping” survey featured 200 Vietnamese male and female in HCM and Hanoi, aged between 20 and 49.

The survey showed that only 3 percent “never” use AI for research before buying. Frequent use peaks among 30s (68 percent), while 40s more often say’sometimes’ (44 percent).

However, generative AI is not the most popular research method, with 58% of surveyees. The top ones were search engines (Google) with 86 percent, e-commerce platforms such as Shopee and Lazada with 77 percent, Facebook with 59 percent, and Tiktok with 57 percent.

Besides, Q&ME pointed out that 78 percent of surveyees utilize generative AI for information search, 62 percent for personal advice, 58 percent for product research, and 57 percent for work tasks.

Q&Me also emphasized ChatGPT, Gemini, and Meta AI as the most popular generative AI service, with 80, 68, and 25 percent of surveyees using those, respectively. Others were Claude, Copilot, DeepSeek, Grok, and Perplexity.
