Singapore’s Temasek will open its first Middle East offices, in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi, and engage with institutions in Qatar.
In a statement on Wednesday, Temasek said the move aims to push its expansion into the region and attract growing global capital. The move can also improve its access to Central Asia and Africa.
The offices in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are expected to open in the first half of 2027, subject to approvals. They will serve as hubs for Temasek and some of its portfolio companies.
The move will expand Temasek’s network to 15 offices across 11 countries.
Riyadh anchors Saudi Arabia’s drive to attract international firms, while Abu Dhabi has grown into a hub for sovereign capital and cross-border investment, the state investor highlighted.
Temasek Holdings chief executive Dilhan Pillay Sandrasegara said the Middle East is an important part of the firm’s global network and that its priorities aligned with Temasek’s. Chia said having staff on the ground would strengthen ties with partners and widen access to deals across the region and into Central Asia and Africa.
Temasek, with a net portfolio of S$518 billion ($401 billion) as of March, is among the world’s larger state investors.
